FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below are some questions that you may have about the upcoming year. We try our best to provide you with as much information as possible. If you still have questions that may not be answered here, please contact our coaching staff and we will be glad to help you get those answers.

01

What does my student-athlete need to participate in athletics?

The MOST IMPORTANT THING YOUR STUDENT-ATHLETE NEEDS is a CURRENT PHYSICAL from the doctor. The physical will clear your student-athlete to play. That physical will also have a medical history on it that we need as well. Aside from the physical, you will need to fill out all of the RRISD required online forms. Those forms can be found here:

02

When do I need to have all forms turned in?

All online forms as well as the athletic physical MUST be turned in BEFORE your student is allowed to tryout or participate in any sport activity.

03

Are there tryouts for athletics?

Tryouts are held for the following sports: Volleyball, Basketball, Track, and Soccer. Football does not have a tryout period. Any student-athlete that comes out for football will be placed on either the BLUE or GOLD team. Those decisions on where an athlete is placed are made based upon: player safety, athleticism, team needs, player performance, etc.

04

Do I need to buy equipment for my athlete?

All uniforms and equipment that is needed for each sport will be provided for each student-athlete by the school (footwear needs to be provided by the athletes.)

Each student will be responsible for paying athletics fees. The fees will provide the athlete with their daily athletics attire and a game day polo. Remainder of fees go back to your athletes in the form of equipment, clothing, facilities upgrades. Fees for the 2019-2020 season are $60.00.

05

How do the athletes get to the games?

Athletes are transported to each game/contest by the coaching staff on a bus provided by the district. Each coach that drives a bus has a current D.O.T physical on file as well as their Commercial Drivers License (CDL). Parents and guardians are responsible for making arrangements to have their student-athletes picked up from the school after the bus brings them back from the game/ contest.

06

Do you feed the athletes before or after games?

We DO NOT provide food for the athletes before or after the game. We do partner with a food vendor that will provide pre-game meals for your student athletes for a fee. For example, Jason's Deli may provide a meal for your child before each game for a fee for the season. Parents may drop food off for their athletes to the school before games as well.

If there are any other questions you may have, please contact any of the coaches by email on our staff page or call our office at (512) 424 8886. Thank you.
